Unitas Communities is a family of affiliated organizations working together to provide innovative solutions, education, and advocacy that improve the quality of life for seniors. Through our offerings, we meet the needs of seniors seeking a vibrant lifestyle, care or other relevant services that help them thrive today and feel confident in their future, fostering a culture of accountability and respect.
We believe in the power of unity and that collaboration makes us better together. With federal funding cuts, unpredictable market challenges, and competitive pressures, organizations who serve seniors—either directly or indirectly—are finding it harder to provide high-quality care, services and goods while maintaining operational viability and sustainably as standalone organizations.
Each Unitas affiliate brings unique strengths and experiences, allowing us to share relevant operational efficiencies and best practices that serve our collective mission. This enables us to adapt, expand capabilities and reach, and grow together, ensuring that our entities remain robust and resilient.
Through affiliation, Unitas Communities empowers its affiliate members to leverage shared resources, knowledge, and advocacy. We actively pursue solutions that address today’s pressing issues by providing access to innovative training, support services, and educational resources. Our collaborative approach ensures every affiliate organization has a stronger voice and position in the market, while creating efficiencies to stand the test of time.

The Creation of Unitas Communities
Started as a family of faith-based, not-for-profit Life Plan Community serving seniors, Unitas Communities is focused on the Moravian Church’s emphasis on living its motto: “In essentials, unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things love.”
The organization was established in 2023 to serve as a parent company when Moravian Manor Communities and Morningstar Living formed a strategic affiliation, under which shared services and future endeavors will be developed. The name Unitas comes from the Moravian heritage, with the Moravian Church officially known as Unitas Fratrum (Unity of Brethren) since 1457.
The mission, vision, values, and philosophy of care and service of its communities are based upon building strong and respectful relationships between residents and staff, as well as with the families, friends of the residents, and clients we serve.
